The University of Windsor Lancers women's soccer team earned its first victory of the 2026 OUA regular season in dominant fashion on Friday (Sep. 4) night, defeating the Waterloo Warriors 5-0 in front of a home crowd at Alumni Field.
Windsor improves to 1-2-0 in OUA play with this impressive shutout victory, while the Warriors fall to 0-3-0.
GAME FLOW
The Lancers came out aggressively from the opening whistle, generating several early scoring chances. Ella Vinzenz forced an early save just two minutes into the match before Michaela Marenchin and Olivia Corazza each tested Waterloo goalkeeper Maeve Hagarty.
After earning three corner kicks inside the opening 20 minutes, Windsor broke through when Corazza scored the game's opening goal, burying a loose ball in front of the net. The Lancers quickly added to their advantage just over two minutes later, with Vinzenz finding the back of the net as she found a gap in the Waterloo defense and finished off a passing play for her first goal of the season. Autumn Allen scored to make it 3-0 at the 25th minute mark, giving the Lancers a three-goal cushion heading into halftime.
Windsor picked up right where it left off after the break as Zoe Penny added a fourth goal just under three minutes into the second half with a blast through the hands of Hagarty. Corazza capped off the scoring for Windsor in the 60th minute, scoring her second of the night to cap the Lancers five-goal performance.
The Windsor defence and goalkeeper Izzy Barrette kept Waterloo off the scoresheet throughout the match. Barrette made four saves, while the Lancers defensive unit also recorded key defensive stops late in the match to preserve the shutout.

Olivia Corazza led the Lancer offensive attack with two goals, scoring the game's opening and closing markers. The performance gives Corazza four goals through Windsor's opening three OUA games, giving her the league lead as of Friday evening. Ella Vinzenz, Autumn Allen, and Zoe Penny each added a goal in the victory.
Windsor outshot Waterloo 13-10 overall and held a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Lancers also controlled the corner-kick battle 6-0 and committed three fouls compared to four by the Warriors.
Izzy Barrette recorded four saves to earn the clean sheet, while Waterloo's Maeve Hagarty made three saves.
