Windsor Lancers

Gary Malloy

Gary Malloy is the head coach of the Lancer Cross Country team and also serves as a middle distance coach for the Lancer track and field program. Serving as Dennis Fairall's Assistant for many years, Gary took over the cross country head coaching duties when his good friend Dennis retired.

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Coach Malloy is in his 20th season as part of the Lancer coaching staff. With the Lancers, Gary has been part of 24 OUA and 14 U SPORTS Championship teams in track and field and cross country.  He has also coached numerous U SPORTS all-Canadians in cross country and track and field.

An experienced coach also at the national and international level, Gary has coached 20 Lancers to berths on FISU and World Championship Cross Country Teams for Canada and has attended XC Championships in Belgium, Portugal, Italy, France and Switzerland with Team Canada.

Gary is a recently retired high school teacher. He is a Level III certified coach in endurance events and has coached for 36 years in the local High School and Club system  He is a past recipient of the OFSAA Leadership in School Sport Award and the Pete Beach Award for service to High School Athletics.

Gary's philosophy of coaching is quite simple: 
"We are here to give our student-athletes the best experience possible, both academically and athletically. Our support and encouragement will allow them to progress to the best of their abilities. If they enjoy their experiences as Lancers, they will make lasting friendships which will enrich their lives for the years to come."
