The Lancer Women's Soccer team defeated their rivals, the Western Mustangs, 1-0 on a cold and windy evening on Wednesday night at Alumni Field.
The two teams played a tight close game for the entire ninety minutes, with both teams enjoying some excellent scoring opportunities.
A third of the way through the game, Windsor scored the lone goal of the game. Meresa Brownlie headed a corner kick from
Sara Kox into the net behind Western goaltender Nicole Lee.
Western had a chance to tie the game in extra minutes, but Windsor's defense pulled together to preserve the win.
The Lancers now sit 3-3-4 on the season and face the McMaster Marauders this Saturday afternoon in Hamilton. They will then take on the Brock Badgers on Sunday in St. Catharine's. Both games are at 1:00pm.
