Lancer Soccer defeats McMaster and Brock, Mendonca ties shutout record

Dan Mendonca has now recorded eight shutouts on the season
The Windsor Lancers Men's Soccer team continued their fine play over the weekend as they swept the McMaster Marauders and Brock Badgers on the road.

In the victories, Lancer goalkeeper Dan Mendonca tied the Lancer single season shutout record with a pair of shutouts on the weekend.

On Saturday, the Lancers hit the road to Hamilton and defeated the McMaster Marauders 2-0 at Ron Joyce Stadium.

Mike Watson put the Lancers on the board 15 minutes into regulation to give Windsor a 1-0 lead.

From there, both teams would remain scoreless, as Lancer keeper Dan Mendonca made some impressive saves to keep Windsor ahead.

With just five minutes remaining, Ryan Wise put the ball past McMaster goalkeeper Matthew Grant to secure the 2-0 win for the Lancers.

On Sunday, the Lancers travelled up to St. Catharines as they defeated the Brock Badgers 1-0 to earn the weekend sweep.

Ian Osei Owusu scored in the 69th minute to give the Lancers the victory.

Mendonca had another incredible day for Windsor, as he made 12 spectacular saves to halt a surging Brock offense and earn his second shutout of the weekend.

That win gave the Lancer goalkeeper eight shutouts on the season which ties the Lancer record for most shutouts in a season.

The Lancers will close out their regular season this coming weekend as they host the York Lions on Saturday and the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday. Both games are at 3:15pm on Alumni Field.
