Under less than pleasent weather conditions, the Lancer women's soccer team tied the Waterloo Warriors 4-4 on the road on Saturday afternoon before falling 3-0 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday.
Waterloo got on the board first with a quick goal by Jeenie Caird one minute into the game. Windsor tied the game eight minutes later when Sarah Kox scored on Waterloo goalie Taylor Meyers.
Ten minutes later, the Lancers took their first lead of the game with
Candace Garrod's first goal of the match. Waterloo's Delta Piolte tied the game at 2-2 before the end of the half, and remained deadlocked heading into the break.
Kox scored her second goal of the game two minutes into the second to give Windsor a 3-2 lead. Garrod's second goal of the game increased Windsor's lead to 4-2.
Waterloo brought the score within one before the game was delayed due to weather conditions with only eight minutes remaining in regulation.
After a thirty-five minute delay, the two teams took to the field to finish out the clock. Those eight minutes were all Waterloo needed to tie the game with less than a minute remaining.
On Sunday, the Lancers faced the first place Golden Hawks.
Laurier got on the board eighteen minutes into game with a goal by Heather Malizia.
Malizia scored her second goal of the game two thirds of the way through the game to increase the Laurier lead. Alyssa Coppolino secured the Golden Hawks win with five minutes remaining in the match to give Laurier a 3-0 win.
The Lancers are on the road again on Wednesday night when they take on the Western Mustangs in London at 6:00pm.
