Box Score Led by Danny Anger's hat trick, the Lancer Men's Hockey team defeated the Queen's Gaels 7-5 on Friday night at the Memorial Centre in Kingston.
With the victory, the Lancers improve to 4-6-2 on the season.
On Friday night, both teams came into the game playing some good hockey as of late, but it was the Gaels who got on the board first as Joey Derochie scored his ninth of the season.
Before the period was out, Brock Ouellet pulled the Gaels to within one and gave them life heading into the second, trailing 3-2.
Queen's would use the momentum gained from Ouellet's goal to even the score early in the second period. Thomas Franzon managed to get the puck past Lancer goalie Jim Watt to tie the score at 3-3.
However, Windsor struck quickly again as Anger netted his second of the contest before Brett Vandehogen tallied to extend the Lancers lead to 5-3.
McCready would add his second of the game on the powerplay midway through the frame to give Windsor a 6-3 advantage heading to the third.
Queen's came out strong to start the third as Jeffrey Johnstone scored his third of the season to pull the Gaels to within two.
Midway through the third with the Lancers shorthanded, Gaels captain Jonathon Lawrance scored his fourth of the season to cut Windsor's lead to 6-5.
With the Gaels swarming the Lancers, Watt made several key saves to keep Windsor in front.
Late in the period, the Gaels took a costly penalty and Anger made them pay as he scored his third goal of the game to seal the 7-5 win for Windsor.
Jim Watt recorded 31 saves for the victory.
Windsor and Queen's will take to the ice once again tomorrow afternoon in the second game of their weekend doubleheader. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 pm at the Memorial Centre.
