Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team earned an important weekend sweep with a 6-3 victory over the Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon in Kingston.
With the victory, the Lancers now move to 5-6-2 on the season.
On Saturday afternoon, the Gaels got on the board first with a goal from Jeffrey Johnstone to take a 1-0 lead.
The Lancers would answer three minutes later as Scott Gillis scored his third goal of the season to tie the game.
Before the period was out, Queen's Johnstone would add his second of the game to give the home team the 2-1 lead after one frame.
In the second period, the two teams would split a pair of goals as Windsor's Mark Thorburn scored his seventh of the season to tie the game.
The Gaels would respond again as Joey Derochie scored his tenth of the season to give his team a 3-2 lead after two periods.
However, Windsor would strike quickly and often in the final period as they scored four unanswered goals in third.
Mike Barbour scored his second goal of the season early in the third to tie the game at 3-3.
From there,
Mark Thorburn would add two more goals to complete the hat trick while
Josh Gaynor added his second of the season as the Lancers skated to the 6-3 victory.
Queen's outshot Windsor 43-37 in the game. Jim Watt recorded 40 saves for the victory.
Windsor will be back in action at home next weekend as they prepare for a critical weekend series with the UOIT Ridgebacks at Windsor Arena.
