The Lancer Men's Soccer team turned in a strong performance in their 2009 season opener as they tied the #8 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks 1-1 on Alumni Field on Saturday.

The first half was well played as both teams moved the ball effectively and had chances to score on the opposition.

The lone goal in the opening half was scored by Laurier's Alex Doma who put the Golden Hawks ahead 1-0 heading into the second half.

Windsor would then turn up their intensity as they answered back with a marker of their own from second year forward Ryan Wise.

The Lancers would have a number of quality scoring chances throughout the game to take the lead but were unable to finish against the Hawks, as the game finished 1-1.

Windsor goalkeeper Dan Mendoca had a strong game in goal as he held the #8 ranked Hawks to only one goal.

Coach Hart's team will be back in action on Sunday when they battle the University of Waterloo Warriors on Alumni Field.
