Women's Soccer grabs first win of 2009 with solid victory over Warriors

The Lancer women's soccer team grabbed their first win of the 2009 season with a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon against the Waterloo Warriors on Alumni Field.

The game was an intense affair right from the start and remained scoreless until the final minute of the game. With the game on the line, Lancer Bridget Jeffray snuck one past the Warrior goalkeeper Taylor Meyers to give the Lancers the big win.

Windsor's offense was in top form throughout the game as they peppered the Warriors with shots throughout the second half.

Lancer goalkeeper Nicole Dowell earned the shutout in net for the Lancers.

On Saturday in the season opener, the Lancers dropped a 2-0 decision to the reigning OUA champion Laurier Golden Hawks.

The Lancers hit the road next weekend for a pair of games against the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday afternoon and the York Lions on Sunday afternoon in Toronto.
