The Lancer Men's Soccer team pulled off a major upset on Sunday as they defeated the #2 ranked York University Lions 4-3 on the road in Toronto.
Coach Hart's squad got a pair of goals from
Michael Watson and markers from
Ryan Wise and
Arlo Hemkes to earn a huge win on the road against the high powered Lions.
With the victory, the Lancers move to 1-1-2 on the season.
Against York,
Michael Watson scored 50 seconds into the game to give the Lancers the 1-0 lead. York would answer back a minute later to tie the game at 1-1.
The Lancers then exploded offensively as they scored three more times in the half to lead 4-2 at the break.
In the second half, York would inch back closer as they scored to make it 4-3. However, that would be as close as they would get as Windsor held on for the thrilling 4-3 victory.
Michael Watson had a phenomenal performance against York as he was all over the field and he scored twice, including the winner to give his team the upset victory.
Earlier in the weekend, the Lancers also earned a point on the road as they played the Guelph Gryphons to a 0-0 tie in Guelph on Saturday.
Against Guelph, both teams had some quality scoring chances throughout the game to take the lead but were unable to finish convert, as the game finished in a 0-0 tie.
Windsor goalkeeper Dan Mendoca had another strong game in goal as he earned the shutout for the Lancers.
