Lancer Women's Soccer impressive as they defeat #4 Brock 2-1 on Alumni Field

The Lancer women's soccer team continued to impress over the weekend as they defeated the #4 ranked Brock Badgers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon on Alumni Field.

Windsor completed another strong two-game set as they started the weekend with a 0-0 tie over the visiting McMaster Marauders. On Saturday, rookie goaltender Danielle St. Germain earned her second shutout of the season in the scoreless tie.

On Sunday, the Lancers put everything together on the field as they defeated the #4 Badgers 2-1 in a tremendous team effort.

Scoreless at the half, Windsor got on the board first with a goal by first year forward Candace Garrod

Ten minutes later, the Badgers answered back with a goal of their own to even the score at 1-1.

From there, the Lancers took over as they increased their intensity and moved the ball effectively to create scoring chances. The hard work finally paid off as Cassandra Quayson was able to kick one past Badger goaltender Michelle Spadafora to give her team the 2-1 upset victory.

Windsor will look to keep the momentum going as they will hit the road next weekend to take on the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday afternoon and then the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday. Both games are set for 1:00pm.
