No. 3 Lancers come from behind to defeat Mustangs 85-75

The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team came from behind to defeat the Western Mustangs 85-75 on Wednesday night at Alumni Hall in London, ON.
 
With the win, the No. 3 Lancers win the season series between the two squads and improves to 12-1 to remain in first place in the OUA West.
 
The Mustangs built an early eight lead as the Lancers came out slow to start the first quarter.
 
The Mustangs had a one-point, first-quarter lead of 19-18 and led 40-37 at the half. Western held their largest lead of the game with eight points with 38 seconds left in the first half, but Windsor scored five points to pull within three before the break.
 
Despite getting into foul and injury trouble the Lancers fought back, going on a 12-3 run and outscoring the Mustangs 30-16 in the third quarter.
 
Fighting injury, second year Bojana Kovacevic came off the bench in the third quarter to score all her points in the quarter, adding four rebounds, an assist and a steal.
 
The Lancers led 67-56 after the third quarter and held on for the win.
 
Western held the rebounding advantage, 35-28, including a 16-10 edge on the offensive glass.
 
Lancer rookie guard Miah-Marie Langlois had a terrific game for her team with 16 points and nine assists, while Jessica Clemencon led Windsor with a game-high 22 points, along with nine boards.
 
Windsor takes to the road again this Saturday as they take on the Brock Badgers at 1:00pm in St. Catharine's, ON.
