Ex-Spitfire Jonathan Sciacca's hat trick propels Lancers to 6-3 victory over York

Jonathan Sciacca had a hat trick in Sunday's victory over York.
Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team, led by Jonathan Sciacca's hat trick defeated the York Lions 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at the WFCU Centre.

Sunday's game was part of the inaugural OHL/OUA Scholastic Showcase hosted jointly by the Windsor Spitfires and the Windsor Lancers.

With the victory, the Lancers move to 8-10-3 on the season and are now firmly in control of their playoff destiny with six games remaining.

On Sunday, the Lancers fell behind 2-0 for the second straight game as the Lions got a pair of first period goals to take the early lead.

Windsor bounced back with three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 3-2 lead. Lancer goals were scored by Brett Oliphant, Kyle Lang and Jonathan Sciacca.

In the third, the Lancers got another marker from Josh Gaynor before Sciacca added his second and third goals of the game to secure the 6-3 victory.

Jim Watt made 35 saves in net for Windsor to earn the victory.

The Lancers will be back in action next weekend as they hit the road for a pair of games against the UOIT Ridgebacks and the Guelph Gryphons.
