Oliphant's 4-point night sparks Lancers 6-1 victory over UOIT

Brett Oliphant had 4 points in their 6-1 victory over UOIT on Friday night.
Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team, led by Brett Oliphant's 4-point night, defeated the UOIT Ridgebacks 6-1 on Friday night in Oshawa.

With the victory, the Lancers move to 9-10-4 on the season and are now firmly in control of their playoff destiny with five games remaining.

On Friday night, after a scoreless opening period, Windsor got on the board first when Scott Gillis scored his 6th goal of the season on the powerplay for the 1-0 lead.

The Lancers would then go on to score four goals in the first six minutes of the third period to take a commanding 5-0 lead over the Ridgebacks.

Goals came from Mark Thorburn, Kyle Tront and a pair from Brett Oliphant.

The Ridgebacks would get on the board late in the game before Mark Thorburn added his second of the game and 12th of the season for the 6-1 victory.

Jim Watt stopped 15 of 16 shots to pick up the win in goal.

Windsor will be back in action on Saturday as they look to improve their playoff positioning with an important match-up against the Guelph Gryphons. 

The Lancers trail the Gryphons by only two points in the standings but have a game in hand. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm in Guelph.
