The Windsor Lancers are pleased to announce that
Robert Eeuwes and
Daryl Townsend from the Lancer Football program have been named OUA All-Stars, as announced by the OUA today.
This is the first time both athletes have been named OUA all-stars.as Lancers.
Eeuwes, a second team all-star, had an outstanding year as a Lancer, handling all of Windsor's punting and placekicking duties in 2010.
The second year Law student consistently provided the Lancers with an advantage in field position with his punting, and was second in the OUA with an average of 39.87 yards per kick and 3070 total punting yards.
Townsend was named a second team all-star at the defensive halfback position. Townsend's ability to play in the secondary and also in the box with the front seven made him a very versatile defender on the field for the Lancers.
The third year general arts major finished the regular season 5th in the OUA in solo tackles with 44, and also added 16 assisted tackles throughout the year.
Townsend also did double duty as the Lancer Punt return and kick-off return specialist where he set a school record in kick-off return yardage, passing Arjei Franklin as the all-time leader.
“Both the players and coaches are very proud of what Robert and Daryl have accomplished by being named OUA All-Stars for 2010,” said Lancer Football head coach Mike Morencie. “It is a testament to their work ethic and preparation that they are amongst the best the OUA has to offer.”
