New faces to jump start Lancers against Thunderwolves

The Lancers swept Lakehead in their first two meetings earlier this year
The University of Windsor men's hockey team returns to action this weekend as they head to Thunder Bay to open up the second half of their season against the No. 7 Lakehead Thunderwolves.

Head coach Kevin Hamlin has added a few new faces to the 7-7-3 Lancers in an attempt to bolster the lineup and make a deep playoff run.

Joining the Blue & Gold are defenceman Josh Bemis, and forwards Dan Lombardi and Tom Craig who will hope to contribute on a nightly basis and allow the Lancers to claw their way up the tight Western division standings.

Graduates of the Ontario Hockey League, Bemis played the past three seasons for the Plymouth Whiles, while Lombardi spent four seasons with the Sarnia Sting.

Craig, a 6'3 centre from St. Louis, spent this past season with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL where he amassed 18 points and 95 penalty minutes in 44 games.

The Lancers will hope that the addition of these players will give them a much deeper bench, and make them a tougher matchup in their division.

In their previous meeting this season at Windsor Arena, the Lancers swept the series beating the Thunderwolves 5-1 and 3-0. Coach Hamlin's squad will hope for similar success this weekend on the road, as they look to snap a two game skid from 2010.

Both Friday and Saturday's games are at 7:30pm at Fort Williams Gardens. The Lancers will return home next weekend as they play host to the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday January 15th. Game time is set for 7:30pm at Windsor Arena.
