The Lancer Women's Soccer team defeated the Western Mustangs 3-1 on Tuesday night on Alumni Field.
Just nine minutes into the game, Lancer striker
Candace Garrod shot the through ball given by
Tina Vagnini over the head of the Mustangs keeper to make it 1-0 for Windsor.
Western attempted to respond, but Lancer keeper
Rebecca Singer was able to come up with two strong challenges in the 12th and 15th minutes of the game to hold the lead.
The Lancers had a couple of chances to score before half on a free-kick by
Sara Kox and a nice shot by
Mereasa Brownlie, however Western was able to keep the game within one.
The Lancers would add two more goals on the night from Vagnini and
Alyshia Phillips as they secured the hard fought 3-2 win over the Mustangs.
Prior to the game, the Lancers honoured their graduating athletes as the ladies played their final regular season game at home.
The Lancers will hit the road this weekend to take on the York Lions and Laurier Golden Hawks.
