Lancers draw 1-1 tie against Lions

The Lancer women's soccer team earned a 1-1 tie against the York Lions in OUA soccer action on Saturday afternoon in heavily overcast weather conditions.

York's Colleen Beesley pu the Lions on the scoreboard first in the fifth minute of play.

After 45 minutes of play, the score remained 1-0 in York's favour.

In the second half, both teams fought 50mph winds and light rain that presented quite an obstacle during play.

Windsor had their first opportunity to tie up the game in the 63rd minute, but York goalkeeper Sarah Fiorini made a daring save, snatching up the ball on the Lancers' best scoring opportunity of the game to that point.

The Lancers would finally get on the scoreboard in the 84th minute, when Mereasa Brownlie scored for Winder to tie the game.

Windsor will head to Waterloo to face the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday.
