The Lancer men's soccer team shut out the Laurier Golden Hawks 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Waterloo.
With the win, the Lancers are now 5-4-5 in the OUA West division and in sole possession of fifth place.
The first half saw no scoring for either team as they both fought to keep the ball away from their goaltenders. Hawk midfielder Edkis Sokmez, had the best scoring opportunity of the half but was turned away by goalkeeper
Dan Mendonca.
The second half saw the Hawks struggle to keep the ball in their possession.
Michael Pio of Windsor, Ont., broke the deadlock for the Lancers in the 56th minute against Martyn Hooker of Brantford, Ont.
The Hawks had an opportunity to even the score shortly thereafter as Chumra attempted at a shot on goal but it was again turned away by Mendonca.

Paul Frenken was able to find a break and score against Hooker to put the match out of reach.
Mendonca made six saves in the win for his first shut-out of the season.
The Lancers will close out the regular season portion of their schedule this week. The team will travel to Guelph on Saturday to face the Gryphons at 3:15pm before heading home on Sunday for their final regular season home game against UOIT at 1:00pm.
Prior to the game on Sunday, the Lancers will honour their graduating athletes in a pre-game ceremony.
