Brownlie, Lancers knock off #1 Golden Hawks

With her second goal of the weekend, Mereasa Brownlie propelled the Lancers to a 2-1 road victory over the No. 1 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday in Waterloo.

With the win, the Lancers are 7-3-3 on the year, and sit in second place in the OUA West, behind the first place Golden Hawks.

Laurier jumped out to an early lead as leading scorer Krista Cellucci scored her ninth of the season just eleven minutes into the game.

The home team wasn't able to hold onto the lead for very long as Sara Kox scored in the first half to even the score at one.

Windsor grabbed the lead in the second half with Mereasa Brownlie scoring her second goal of the season. Brownlie's goal would prove to be enough as Windsor goalie Rebecca Singer made 7 saves for the victorious Lancers.

The Lancers will close out their regular season with a road trip to Guelph on Saturday October 22nd to face the Guelph Gryphons.
