Men's Soccer earns a point against Badgers; shut out by Marauders

The Lancer men's soccer team earned a point over Alumni Weekend as they were shut-out 4-0  by the McMaster Marauders on Friday night before earning a 1-1 tie against Brock on Sunday.

The Marauders took control of the game right off the bat and pressured the 18-yard box hard, forcing Lancer keep Sam Atkin to come up with two big saves early on

Following the saves, they received a corner and were able to connect just 5 minutes into the game as Gersi Xhuti put one past Atkin to make it 1-0

Just before half Mac had another opportunity as Paterson Farrell hit the cross bar

The Marauders continued to pressure in the second half but Windsor was able to keep the score at 1-0 until the 67th minute mark when Mac attacker Reilly shot one past Atkin, making the score 2-0

Windsor's best opportunities to get on the board came in the 70th and 81st minute mark, when midfielder, Paul Frenken's free-kick sailed just over the Marauder goal and Cirovski's shot just missed the net

McMaster would score two more times before the end of the game, as Farell and Costa were each able to net one, making the final 4-0 for the Marauders

Five minutes into the game against Brock, Adam Jameson played the ball to the front of the goal, it hit the post and rebound was picked up by Brocks keeper, Ryan Toale.

In the 34th minute mark, Brock midfielder Patterson nailed a shot into the top corner of the Windsor goal from well outside of the 18-yard box, making the score 1-0 for the Badgers.

Windsor striker Mike Pio had a few opportunities to score throughout the course of the game, including a header off of Megna's cross that hit the post in the 39th minute and a shot that sailed over the net in the 89th minute.

Lancer keeper Olagbegi came up with two big saves at the 45th and 58th minute mark to keep the game within one.

In the second half, Lancer midfielder Eric Cirovski had a couple of beautif! ul attempts, as his header in the 58th minute and shot in the 72nd minute were both wired off of the post.

Lancer continued to demonstrate signs of heavy pressure and possession in the later portion of the game and were able to tie the game up at 1 in the 79th minute mark when midfielder Paul Frenken volleyed one past the Badger keeper.

Frenken had another quality scoring chance right after in the 81st minute, however his shot was saved by the cross bar, keeping the game tied at one.

Windsor heads to Waterloo Friday afternoon to play the Warriors.
