The Lancer women's soccer team split a pair of home soccer games on Alumni Weekend. On Friday night they fell to the McMaster Marauders 2-0, and then rebounded on Sunday to shut out the Brock Badgers by the same 2-0 score.
The Marauders applied a great deal of pressure and possession right off of the bat in horrible weather conditions, heavy winds and rain on a cold evening at Alumni Field
Candace Garrod had an opportunity at the 9 minute mark, beating a couple of Marauder defenders; however keeper Brittany Duffers aggressively came out of her goal to make the save
In the 26th minute, McMaster striker Natalie Brace shot from the 18-yard line and was able to hit the bottom of the Windsor goal, making it 1-0 for the Marauders
In the 36th minute mark Lancer keeper, Singer, had to come up with a big save to keep the game within one.
Windsor showed signs of pressure early on in the 2nd half, with a couple of decent attempts off of their corner kicks, however were unable to connect
Windsor's best scoring chance came at the 59th minute mark when
Sara Kox sent a ball into the box to hit Garrod. McMaster's keeper challenged the play and was able to make the save
The Marauders second and final goal came at the 62 minute mark, as a strong wind carried Emma Mangialardi's shot over the head of the Lancer keeper.
Against the Badgers, the Lancers offense came out firing and just 5 minutes into the game striker
Candace Garrod was able to break through the Brock defense and put one past the keeper into the bottom corner of the goal.
Just a few minutes later in the 10th minute mark, Garrod is able to dribble through the Badgers defense and hit the corner again, putting the Lancers up 2-0 early on in the game.
Lancer midfielder
Mereasa Brownlie also had a couple of nice opportunities to score at the 15 and 16th minute mark, however her shots were saved by Brock's keeper Amber Cubitt.
At the 26th minute mark, Brock striker Bruzzese had their best scoring chance of the game, but Windsor keeper
Rebecca Singer was able to come up with a diving save.
In the 55th minute of play, Garrod had an opportunity to score her third goal of the game, however was stopped by Brock's aggressive keeper.
Defender
Sara Kox had a beautiful attempt on a free-kick but was just wide of the goal.
