Box Score The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team split a pair of home games this weekend with the Laurier Golden Hawks and York Lions at Windsor Arena.
In the weekend opener, the Lancers dropped a 4-1 decision to York on Friday before responding with a 4-2 victory over Laurier on Saturday night.
With the weekend split, Windsor now sits at 3-5 in conference play.
On Friday night, the Lancers jumped out to a 1-0 lead early as rookie defenseman
Mike MacIntyre scored his first career CIS goal to put the home team ahead.
The Lions would answer back midway through the opening period to tie the game at 1-1 after 30 minutes.
York would take the lead in the second period on a back-to-back goals in the first ten minutes to go ahead 3-1.
Windsor controlled the latter part of the second period but couldn't convert as they hit the goal post twice.
The visitors would add an empty netter late in the third to claim the 4-1 victory. The Lions outshot the Lancers 31-26 in the contest.
On Saturday night, Coach Hamlin's squad rebounded with a solid performance as they earned a 4-2 victory over the Golden Hawks.
The Lancers jumped out to a 1-0 lead for the second straight night as Alaska native
Isak Quakenbush buried his second of the year just 3:43 into the contest.
After Laurier tied it less than a minute later, fellow rookie
Evan Stibbard would score his second of the season late in the period to put Windsor ahead 2-1.
The home team would make it a two goal advantage midway through the second period as Quakenbush netted his second of the game and third on the season to make it 3-1 Windsor.
Laurier again battled back less than a minute later to cut the Lancer lead to 3-2 heading into the third.
In the final period,
D.J. Turner would score a powerplay marker at 15:14 in the third to complete the hard fought 4-2 victory.
Windsor outshot Laurier 29-19 on the night.
Parker Van Buskirk earned the victory in goal for the Lancers as he made 17 saves on the night.
The Lancers will be back in action next weekend as they host Western and Brock as part of their annual Lancer Hockey Alumni weekend at Windsor Arena.
