Box Score The Lancer men's hockey team earned their third straight victory with a 4-3 win over the Brock Badgers on Alumni weekend Saturday night at Windsor Arena.
With the win, the Lances are now 5-5-0 on the season and are tied for fourth place with the Badgers.
Windsor opened the scoring 10:14 into the first period when
Matt McCready and
Scott Todd setup
Ryan Green for his fifth goal of the season.
The Lancers would take a two-goal lead 7:22 into the second period, as Todd beat Brock goaltender Kurt Jory for his second goal of the campaign.
Brett Oliphant and
Brett Vandehogen added the assists.
The Badgers would answer back with two goals less than two minutes apart to tie it 2-2 with 6:40 left in the second period.
At the 11:55 mark, Matt Abercrombie would put one past Lancers goaltender
Parker Van Buskirk, and would add another on the power play at 13:20 when freshman Sean Jones scored for his fourth goal of the year.
Brock would take a 3-2 lead 1:42 into the third period, with their second power play marker. C.J. Dickson and Jones setup Isaac Smeltzer, who scored on Van Buskirk for the one-goal lead.
The Lancers would tie it 3-3 at the midway point of the third period with a goal from
Evan Stibbard.
D.J. Turner and
Drew Palmer were credited with the assists.
With just over five minutes left in regulation, Windsor's
Tom Craig and
Isak Quakenbush would setup Barry Sanderson who slid it past Jory for the game-winner.
In goal, Van Buskirk turned aside 38 of 41 Brock shots for the victory. Jory recorded 26 saves in the loss.
Windsor hits the road next weekend as they travel to Oshawa to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks for a pair of games.
