Men's Hockey earns impressive shutout victory in exhibition opener over Laurier

Parker Van Buskirk was impressive in his Lancer debut as he recorded a shutout in the 6-0 victory.
The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team made a solid debut on Saturday night as they shutout the Laurier Golden Hawks 6-0 in their 2011-12 exhibition opener.

The Lancers opened their non-conference schedule in Tecumseh, Ontario with a special OUA Men's Hockey match-up at the Tecumseh Arena.

On Saturday, Windsor got on the board first midway through the opening period as rookie Ryan Crevatin scored to make it 1-0. Assists went to Brett Oliphant and Isak Quakenbush.

The second period was all Windsor as they recorded 4 second period goals to take command of the game. Captain Matt McCready, rookie Spencer Pommells, Kyle Makaric and Adam Feniak all scored for the Lancers to make it 5-0.

In the third, veteran Mark Thorburn would add his first of the pre-season to round out the scoring and give Windsor the 6-0 victory.

Lancer netminder Parker Van Buskirk was outstanding in goal in his CIS debut as he turned aside every shot he faced to earn the shutout.

Windsor will be back in action on Friday night when they travel to Waterloo, Ontario for a return match-up with the Golden Hawks.
