Men's Hockey drops pair of road games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Lancer men's hockey team dropped a pair of road games over the weekend.

After dominating the Guelph Gryphons at home just one week ago, the Lancers fell to the Gryphons 6-1 on Friday night.

The Lancers then lost a 5-2 decision to the Western Mustangs on Saturday night in London.

Windsor is now 9-11 on the season and sit in 6th place in the OUA West with 8 games remaining in the regular season.

The first period produced zero offence on either side as Lancer goalie Parker Vanbuskirk and Gryphon goalie Cody St Jacques were outstanding and kept their teams in the game.

The Lancers got on the board first just 19 seconds into the second period when Evan Stibbard scored a breakaway goal to put his team ahead 1-0.

The Gryphons responded to knot the game at 1-1 at 4:02 of the second period.

Guelph took the lead at 11:57 of the second period with a goal from TJ MacDonald.

The Gryphons would go on to score four goals in the third period to take the 6-1 win.

On Saturday, the Mustangs put up two quick goals in the first ten minutes of the game, en route to a 3-0 lead after the first period.

Western would go up 4-0 before Steve Ferry put the Lancers on the board at 7:05 of the second period.

Tom Craig would score his fourth of the season before the period was out to cut the Mustang lead to two heading into the third.

Windsor netminder Dan Savelli made 18 saves to keep the Mustangs scoreless through almost two whole periods of play.

The Mustangs would score an empty net goal with just thirty second remaining to close out the scoring.

The Lancers will continue their stint on the road as they head to Waterloo next Friday night to face the Warriors at 7:30pm.
