The Lancer men's soccer team split their final two regular season games, with a 1-0 loss to the #4 McMaster Marauders on Saturday and a 4-2 win over the Brock Badgers on Sunday.
Windsor finishes the season with a 7-6-3 record, good enough for fourth place overall in the OUA West division, and a home playoff game this Wednesday night.
On Saturday, the Lancer defense played a solid game keeping the Marauders at bay for long periods of time. However, a goal off a free kick late in the first half put the visitors on the board, and take the eventual win.
In their final regular season game, the Lancers took a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Mike Pio, Mike Watson, and Cristian Mayorga.
Brett Holmberg put away the fourth goal for Windsor before Brock pulled two back late in the game.
Prior to the game, the Lancers honoured their graduating athletes in a pre-game ceremony. Honoured athletes included
Massimo Megna,
Sam Atkin, Dejo Olabegi,
Chris Hakim, Eric Cirovski, and Mike Watson.
The win secured home field advantage for the Lancers. Windsor will host the Guelph Gryphons this Wednesday night at 7:00pm in the first round of the OUA playoffs.
