The Lancer women's soccer team closed out the 2012 season with a 3-0 shutout win over the visiting Brock Badgers on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Windsor also faced the McMaster Marauders on Saturday, falling 3-2 in a tight game.
The Lancers finish the season with a 2-10-4 record, and out of the post season.
On Saturday against McMaster, the Lancers were down 2-0 heading into the second half. The ladies picked up the pace the second half of the game, giving the Marauders a run for their money.
Bridget Jeffray scored her first of two goals that in the 53rd minute to bring the Lancers within one.
The goal gave the Lancers the jump they needed, as they continued to apply pressure to the Marauder defense, and open the door for Jeffray's second goal of the half in the 66th minute.
From there, both teams fought for the winning goal right until the very end. McMaster's Mandy Hsieh found an opening at the 90 minute mark to steal the point from Windsor.
On Sunday, the Lancers dominated the Badgers from the first whistle.
Alysha Phillips scored to very impressive goals in the game, while
Gadeer Sobh added the insurance marker at the 60th minute.
Tara Bernard-Rae earned the shut-out in net.
Prior to the game the Lancers honoured their graduating athletes in a pre-game ceremony. Honoured athletes included Sobh, Jeffray,
Tina Vagnini,
Kelly Riccardi,
Carolyn Lott,
Diana Tebby,
Cassandra Quayson, and
Chloe Williams.
