Men's Hockey falls to Laurier at home

Box Score The Lancer Men's Hockey team let a two goal lead slip away as they fell to the Laurier Golden Hawks 4-3 on Friday night at Windsor Arena.

With the loss, the Lancers are now 3-2 on the season and sit in three way tie for third place in the OUA West division. The win was the Golden Hawks first of the season, as they are now 1-3-1 through five games.

The game got off to a wild start as the two teams combined to score five goals in the opening 20 minutes. Windsor grabbed three of the five opening tallies in the contest with goals coming from Isak Quakenbush, Tom Craig and Evan Stibbard. Tyler Stothers scored the Hawks lone goal before Greg Cerilli scored his first career OUA goal to cut the Lancers lead to one and give the Hawks momentum heading into the second.

The Hawks limited the Lancers to just eight shot on goal in the second period, as they tied up the game late in the middle frame on the power play.

In the third, Laurier continued their strong defensive play and were able to keep the Lancers off the scoreboard. At 13:20 of the period, the Golden Hawks were able to get one past Lancer goaltender Parker Van Buskirk to the visiting team in front.

Windsor pulled Van Buskirk in the final minute to try and find the equalizer, but came up short.

Van Buskirk made 30 saves in net for the Lancers, while Hawks goaltender Ryan Daniels made 25 for the win.

The Lancers will travel to Waterloo on Saturday night and face the Warriors at 7:30pm.
