The No. 7 Lancer men's hockey team is set to take on the York Lions this weekend at Windsor Arena.
Windsor moved up three spots in the CIS rankings this week, after a weekend sweep of the RMC Paladins and earning their seventh win over the past eight games.
With an 8-2-0 regular season record, the Lancers are in first place in the OUA West division.
The Lions are also currently on a bit of a hot streak, winning their last three straight and four of their last five games. They sit tied for fifth place with a 6-4-0 record.
The last time these two teams met was last year in the post season, when Windsor eliminated the Lions in round one of the OUA playoffs.
If the Lancers want to keep their win streak alive, the Lancer defense and goaltender team of
Parker Van Buskirk and
Matt Murphy will have to stop Lions leading scorer, fourth year forward Jesse Messier, who has 15 points in 10 games.
Windsor will also look to the sophomore duo of
Spencer Pommells and
Evan Stibbard to add some punch on offense. Pommells is currently second in the OUA in scoring with 18 points in 10 games played, while Stibbard also sits in the top 10 with 15 points in 10 games.
Saturday is also Alumni Weekend for the Lancer hockey program. The Lancers will welcome back alumni for a family skate, an alumni game, as well as a post game social.
The puck is set to drop at 7:30pm on both Friday and Saturday night at Windsor Arena.
