Windsor vs Lakehead

Men's Hockey

PLAYOFFS: Men's Hockey set to open round two of playoffs against Lakehead

The Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team will open their second round of the playoffs on Wednesday night when they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves at 7:30pm at Windsor Arena.

The Lancers are coming off an impressive first round sweep of the York Lions that included a 5-1 victory on Saturday night in Toronto.

Spencer Pommels, Steve Ferry, Matt McCready Ryan Green and Evan Stibbard scored goals and Parker Van Buskirk recorded the win in net.

Van Buskirk has been rock solid in net for the Lancers throughout the second half of the season and he will need to continue to stay hot if Windsor wants to upset the second seeded Thunderwolves.

Head Coach Kevin Hamlin's squad has now won eight straight games dating back to the regular season and will be looking to make it nine straight on Wednesday night.

The last time these two teams faced off was in Windsor in November with the Thunderwolves winning both by narrow margins. Lakehead edged the Lancers 4-3 on the Friday, and then took a 4-2 victory on the Saturday.

As part of the OUA's rotating schedule, Windsor did not travel to Thunder Bay during the regular season this year.

The last time Lakehead met Windsor in the playoffs was in a first round match-up following the 2002-03 season.

Don't miss exciting men's hockey playoff action this Wednesday night when the Lancers and Thunderwolves drop the puck in game one of the best of three series.
