The Lancer men's hockey team will be a part of history this weekend as they play the final regular season game in the historic Windsor Arena.
Windsor will host the Waterloo Warriors at 7:30pm to close out their OUA regular season.
Affectionately known as “The Barn”, Windsor Arena was constructed in 1924 and is one of the oldest arenas in North America. The historic building will be closing its doors at the end of the hockey season and will be turned into an urban mall.
The Lancers have called the Barn home since the beginning of the 2008-09 season after the OHL's Windsor Spitfires moved to the WFCU Centre.
Saturday's game is not only an important day in hockey history, but an important day on the ice. The Lancers will be looking for a win to jostle the standings and earn a higher position in the tight west division.
In their last meeting three weeks ago, the Warriors edged the Lancers 3-2 in a shoot-out. Windsor will be looking to avenge the loss and take back the two points.
Prior to the game, the Lancers will hold a ceremonial face-off marking the event, and will also honour their graduating seniors.
To be a part of history, you can purchase tickets at the game starting at 6:30pm. Tickets are only $5 for adults, and $3 for youth and seniors.
