Lancer Soccer falls to Badgers

The Lancer women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Brock Badgers in their last home game of the regular season.

With the loss, the Lancers are 5-7-2 on the season and in fifth place in the OUA West division.

The Blue & Gold dominated possession throughout the first half, but were unable to capitalize on any opportunities and the game went into the second half scoreless.

In the second, Windsor had a number of opportunities to get on the scoreboard. Forward Brianne Fuerth came close in the 53rd minute when she got her head onto a Cara Cirovski cross, and the header narrowly missed the mark. In the 72nd minute, Fuerth hit the post after breaking free of the Badgers defense.

After that Brock slowly started to come into the game forcing Lancer keeper Tara Bernard Rae into a save. In the 79th minute Badger Megan Salisbury got past the Lancer defense and scored on Bernard-Rae to break the scoreless tie.

Badger Lindsay McDonald scored shortly after in the 82nd minute after a keeper error allowed the forward to shoot the ball into the net.

The Lancers wrap up their season on the road next weekend against the UOIT Ridgebacks and York Lions as they try to push for a playoff position.
