Men's Soccer advances to OUA West semi-finals

The Lancer men's soccer team defeated the Western Mustangs 1-0 on Wednesday night to advance to the OUA West semi-finals.

It was the third game of the season between the two sides, with Windsor held a 1-0-1 record against the Mustangs in the recgular season.

In the first half of the contest the Lancers were able to put themselves on the scoreboard first, as Cristian Mayorga found the back of the Mustangs net just 10 minutes into the game.

The Mustangs continued to battle hard to try and cut the Lancers lead, outshooting the Lancers in the first half and firing off six shots on Windsor goaltender Dejo Olagbegi. Despite having opportunities to even the score, the Lancers defense was solid and they held onto their 1-0 lead heading into the break.

In the second half the Lancers offence came out strong and was able to rack up six shots on Mustangs goaltender Adam Majer.

The Mustangs continued to pressure the Lancer defense and almost tied the game late in the half, however, the game tying goal was called off due to an offside.

The game remained intense through the final minutes as both teams continued to create scoring opportunities that challenged both goaltenders.
