Box Score Two third period goals lifted the Lancer men's hockey team to a 3-2 win over the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday evening at the Columbia Ice Field in Waterloo.
With the win, the Lancers close out the regular season with a 18-9-1 record and finish second overall in the OUA West division. Windsor will face the seventh seed York Lions (14-14-0) in the first round of the OUA playoffs starting this week.
Waterloo's Kain Allicock gave the home team an early lead with a power play goal at 4:39 of the first period. Windsor had a number of scoring chances throughout the period, but were unable to score, as Waterloo held the one goal lead heading into the first intermission.
In the second, the Warriors again found the back of the net first as Andy Smith increased the lead to 2-0.
D.J. Turner retailed for the Lancers at 14:08 of the period to cut the Warrior lead to just one heading into the final period.
The third period was a tight contest as both goaltenders turned out impressive performances to keep the score unchanged late into the game.
Jadran Beljo scored his third of the year at 15:02 of the frame to tie the game at two-all, and just one minute later
Derek Lanoue scored his second goal of the weekend to put the Lancers up 3-2 with just four minutes remaining in regulation.
The Warrior's pulled goaltender Keaton Hartigan in favour of the extra attacker, but the Lancer defense was solid and held on for the victory.
