Lancers fall to Waterloo in Conference Finals

Box Score The Lancer men's hockey team had their season come to an end with a 5-3 loss to the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday night at the Columbia Ice Field.

With Windsor's loss, the Warriors swept the Blue & Gold 2-0 in the best of three series.

The Warriors struck first at 13:31 of the first period with a goal from Justin Larson to take a 1-0 lead. Windsor tied it up exactly one minute later with a power play goal from Christian Steingraber. Assists were credited to Evan Stibbard and Drew Palmer.

Tied at one heading into the second, the middle stanza was a flurry of activity with four goals being scored between the two teams.

Waterloo scored two goals to take a two goal, 3-1, lead before D.J. Turner brought the Lancers within one with nine minutes left in the period. However, Warrior Andy Smith scored just two minutes later on the power play to restore Waterloo's two goal lead.

In the third, Brett Oliphant scored his first of the post season to bring the Lancers within one six minutes into the period. Waterloo added their fifth goal of the game later in the period to take the win.
