Lancers top Citadel in Classic finale

WINDSOR, Ont.- Toronto native Josh Collins recorded a team-high 18 points and four of his teammates also reached double-digits on offence, as the Windsor Lancers men's basketball team notched an 83-73 overtime victory over The Citadel Bulldogs on Tuesday evening at the St. Denis Centre.

The Lancers ended their annual NCAA OUA Tip-Off Classic with two straight victories and a 2-2 record after also defeating the Bulldogs on Monday evening. Windsor was on the losing end of two very close opening matches, falling 76-72 to Southern in double overtime last Wednesday and 84-80 to Marshall on Saturday.

However, the men were able to bring their preseason record back to .500 by dominating the overtime period after the Bulldogs fought from as many as nine points down in the fourth quarter to even the contest. Windsor outscored Citadel 13-3 in the extra frame.

Enrico Diloreto (London, Ont.) finished with 17 points and Evan Matthews (Tecumseh, Ont.) was a monster on the glass, pulling down a game-high 17 rebounds. The senior forward added 12 points to record a double-double, while Alex Campbell and Bradford Parker tallied 12 and 10 points respectively in the win.

Ashton Moore recorded a game-best 26 points and added a team-high eight boards for The Citadel with Dylan Setzekorn adding 16 points and six rebounds.
