Two University of Windsor Lancer men's basketball players have signed CEBL developmental contracts for the 2026 season. The Ottawa BlackJacks have signed
Yohann Sam and the Brampton Honey Badgers are adding
Bronson Chambers.
In his fourth year of U SPORTS eligibility, Sam led the Lancers with 16.0 points per game on 39.1% total shooting and 34.4% from three while averaging 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, helping the Lancers to a 12-10 (W-L) record and first round playoff appearance. With the BlackJacks, Sam will look to contribute to a team that went 12-12 last season, placing second in the CEBL Eastern Conference.
This will be Sam's second appearance in the CEBL. He was drafted second overall by Brampton in last year's draft and played four games for the Honey Badgers during the 2025 season. In addition to his previous CEBL experience and success at Windsor, Sam has represented Canada internationally, including at the FIBA U23 3x3 Nations League 2025 – Americas 2 in Punta Arenas, Chile last summer.
In his first year in the OUA after transferring from Lake Region State College of the NJCAA, Chambers averaged 11.7 points per game on 41.6% shooting while starting 15 games. He grabbed 3.8 rebounds per game and averaged 2.6 assists per game. The Brampton native will play for his hometown Honey Badgers, who went 5-19 last season, fifth in the CEBL Eastern Conference.
CEBL Signing Day spotlights the next wave of elite Canadian talent as student-athletes from U SPORTS and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) officially sign for the 2026 season. Each CEBL team will sign two athletes on April 8, and they can carry a total of three developmental players per game that are outside of the team's salary cap.
