Kennedy named to Team Canada men’s basketball Summer 2026 Athlete Pool

University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball alumnus Thomas Kennedy has been named to Team Canada men's basketball's Summer 2026 Athlete Pool, as announced by Canada Basketball on June 1.

Kennedy and the other players have the opportunity to represent the senior men's national team during Window 3 and Window 4 of the FIBA Men's Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifier this summer, and potentially at the 2027 FIBA World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Hamilton will host two FIBA Americas Qualifier games on July 3 and 6, and Canada will play in Quebec City on August 31.

Kennedy had a historic U SPORTS career with the Lancers, averaging 17.8 points per game across four seasons (2018-23), including scoring 436 points in 2022-23, the third-most in the OUA. His senior season saw him win OUA MVP and U SPORTS Player of the Year, as well as being named an OUA first-team all-star and U SPORTS first-team All-Canadian. He received provincial all-star or all-rookie recognition in each season with the blue and gold.

Kennedy is in his fifth season of professional basketball and third since concluding university. He spent 2025-26 with KK Cedevita Olimpija, based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, of the ABA League and Slovenian First League.
