Lancers fall 4-2 to Gryphons

Box Score GUELPH, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team lost its third-straight conference game, falling 4-2 to the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday night.

After twice coming back from one-goal deficits in the first two periods, Windsor (11-7-0) gave up two third-period markers to the Gryphons (9-7-3), who move within two points of the Lancers who sit fourth in the OUA West division along with their Sunday opponent, the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Windsor's newest defenceman, former Spitfires standout Saveria Posa picked up his first goal of the season on the power-play to even the contest in the first period after the home squad opened the scoring short-handed earlier. Kenny Bradford picked up an assist on the goal. Derek Lanoue notched his fifth of the year in the middle frame to round out Windsor's offence. Drew Palmer and Paul Bezzo assisted on Lanoue's marker at 11:27 of the second.

Parker Van Buskirk stopped 24 shots for the Lancers, who outshot the Gryphons 36-28 but ran into the hot goaltending of Andrew Loverock. Windsor was 1-for-5 on the power-play, while Guelph was 1-for-3.

Windsor will battle the Varsity Blues (10-7-2) tomorrow afternoon for sole possession of fourth place in the division. Puck-drop is set for 2:00 p.m. and the game is available live here.
