Box Score 2 The Lancer men's soccer team closed out regular season play on the road this weekend prior to the start of playoffs next week.

Windsor fell 4-2 to the York Lions on Saturday afternoon before falling 3-1 to the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday. Despite the pair of losses, the Lancers qualified for the post season and will travel to London on Wednesday night to take on the Western Mustangs in Round 1 of the OUA playoffs.

After a slow start from both teams on Saturday, York scored their first marker of the game in the 33rd minute. Just one minute later, the hosts increased their lead to two goals as Eric Amato converted on a penalty kick.

York took a 3-0 lead in the 50th minute before rookie
Leaford Allen scored his first of two goals to bring Windsor within two. He added his second of the game in the 74th minute before the Lions secured the win with a marker with only four minutes remaining in regulation.

On Sunday against Guelph, Michael Bijman scored his first of two goals to give the Gryphons a one goal lead midway through the first half.

The Lancers tied the game just six minutes later in the 36th minute with a goal from
Carlos Soares.That would be as close as the Lancers got as Bijman and Ethan Danielli scored two more goals for the Gryphons in the second half to secure the win for the home team.

Windsor finishes the season with an 8-7-1 record and in fifth place in the OUA west division. They'll now battle their rivals, the Western Mustangs in Round 1 of the OUA playoffs on Wednesday night in London.
