Box Score The Lancer men's soccer team lost a hard fought battle to the visiting Western Mustangs on Wednesday at Alumni Field.
Windsor fell to the Mustangs 1-0 on a late goal, and are now in fifth place in the OUA West Division with a 6-4-0 record.
In an evenly matched game, Windsor best chance came with two minutes left in the first half after a free kick from mid-field was headed by
Marco Bernabo towards the Mustangs net. Western goaltender Ben Cowman made an impressive save to keep the game deadlocked at zero.
Tensions began to rise in the second half as the two teams battled for that winning goal. The Lancers held control of the game for most of the second half working as a unit and putting some great passing opportunities together.
Control began to switch over the Mustangs near the 75th minute and Christian Douglas capitalized on an opportunity in the 86th minute to give the Mustangs the lone goal of the game.
Windsor returns to the pitch on Sunday afternoon when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at 3:15pm as part of Alumni Weekend.
