Box Score 2 MONTREAL - The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team split their weekend series with the No. 5 ranked McGill Redman, topping the hosts 4-3 in a shootout on Friday but following that with a 6-2 loss on Saturday evening.
The Lancers handed the Redmen their second home ice loss this year with a 4-3 shootout win Friday night at McConnell Arena.

Parker Van Buskirk was stellar between the pipes for the Blue & Gold. The 6-foot, 200-pound senior improved to 14-8 after posting 39 saves, including two breakaways. He also turned aside all three Redmen snipers in the shootout.
Windsor jumped to an early 2-0 first period lead on goals by
Spencer Pommells and
Evan Stibbard, his first of two. That lead held up until the third period, when McGill rallied to outscore the Lancers 3-1.
McGill's Cedric McNicoll scored at 3:07 and after Stibbard struck again, McNicoll netted his second with a penalty-shot at 10:07 to narrow the gap to 3-2. Less than two minutes later, Mathieu Pompei connected to knot the score at 3-3.
With just 14.5 seconds remaining in regulation, it appeared the Redmen had secured the win with a last secondmarker, until the goal was called back. McNicoll's shot handcuffed Van Buskirk, rolled up over the goalie's shoulder and down his back, landing on his back leg padding, which was mostly inside the net. The referee, however, ruled in
Seeking revenge for their setback on Friday, the Redmen exploded for a three-goal second period to take a commanding 4-1 lead over Windsor in their second game of the weekend on Saturday. They would add two more in the final frame to provide some insurance for the victory, while
Eric Noel and
Christian Steingraber responded with one each in a losing cause for the Lancers.
Van Buskirk made 24 saves before being relieved in the second intermission by
Taylor Speed, who stopped five of seven shots he faced in the third period.
The Lancers (15-10-0) are tied for third-place in the OUA West division, and will host their final regular season home game next Saturday against the Toronto Varsity Blues (12-10-2). The game will be available live at
