Box Score Seven Lancers got their name on the game sheet as the Lancer men's hockey team forced game three in the OUA west semi-finals with a 3-1 win over the No. 8 Western Mustangs on Saturday night at South Windsor Arena.

The series is now tied at one game apiece, with the third and deciding game being played Sunday night at Thompson Arena in London at 7:00pm. The game can be seen live on Mustangs TV.

In a penalty free first period, the Lancers dominated the play for a majority of the period but were unable to capitalize on a several opportunities in front of the Western net. Windsor's defense neutralized the Mustangs preventing the visitors from having any formidable scoring opportunities in the period.

Blake Blondeel put the Lancers on the board at 2:15 of the middle frame with his first goal of the post season. The Lancers maintained their lead throughout the period as they continued their strong defensive play in the Windsor zone.

With less than a minute remaining in the period,
Saverio Posa accepted a pass from Kenny Brandford and captain
Drew Palmer to give Windsor a 2-0 lead heading into the final frame.

In the third, the Lancer defence continued to control Western's forwards, with
Parker Van Buskirk in particular showing great strength, only allowing one goal three minutes into a 4:00 Mustangs power play.

With the clock winding down, the Mustangs pulled goaltender Josh Unice in favour of the extra attacker.
Spencer Pommells added his second empty net goal of the post season at 19:34 of the period to secure the 3-1 win for the Blue & Gold.
