Cross Country
Kicking off a busy weekend of Lancer athletics, the Cross Country team is excited to conclude their regular season on home turf at Malden Park on Saturday. So far this season the Lancers have dominated the XC scene – the No. 2 men claimed two team titles at the Western Invitational and the Don Mills Invitational, while the women notched a number of top 10 finishes throughout the season. On Saturday, the Women's race will begin at 12:00pm, and the men to follow at 12:45pm.

Football
The Lancer football team is on the road this week against the No. 7 Guelph Gryphons. The Lancers are 1-5 on the season and are looking for a strong performance on Saturday.

The Lancers and Gryphons are both coming off of their bye-week. In their last game before the break, the Blue & Gold fell to the No.7 McMaster Marauders 44-19. Rookie quarterback Liam Putt led the Blue & Gold offensively with 165 passing yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions, to go along with 65 yards rushing. In their last regular season contest, the second place Gryphons suffered a 15-23 loss to the Queens Gaels.

In their last meeting, the Gryphons defeated the Lancers 24-9 on Alumni Weekend in 2014. Kick-off is set for 1:00pm in Guelph and will be broadcasted live on OUA.tv.

Lancer Soccer
Another strong weekend of play has moved the Lancer men up to the third spot in the CIS Top 10 with a record of 10-2-1 on the season. Windsor had a pair of games against the Guelph Gryphons and the Brock Badgers over Thanksgiving weekend, and came away with a 1-1 record. On Friday, the Lancers suffered their first loss of the regular season to the visiting Guelph Gryphons (6-4-2). Jack Sargent and Mike Pio scored the lone two goals in the 2-5 loss.

On Saturday against the Badgers, the Lancers bounced back with a domination 4-0 shutout victory. Jamar Redhead (1), Leighton Speechley-Price (1) and Iyowuna Jumbo (2) recorded goals for the Lancers, and goalie Kyle Vizirakis earned the win in net, recording his ninth shutout of the season.

The women's team also split their pair of games over the weekend, defeating Guelph before falling to the McMaster Marauders. Becca Feurth scored the lone goal in the 1-0 win over Guelph. On Saturday, the Lancers were victim to a close 2-1 loss to the visiting Marauders. Kristen Melo scored the tying goal for the Lancers. With just two minutes remaining in the game, the Badgers were awarded a penalty shot that would seal the deal for the Badgers. The other Badger goal was also off another penalty shot.

Both the Men's and Women's teams are on the road this week to face the Laurier Golden Hawks (6/8:15pm) and the Waterloo Warriors (1/3:15pm). Earlier this season, the men shut-out both the Hawks and Warriors, while the women defeated Waterloo but were unable to come away with a win against Laurier.

Men's Hockey
Coming off a perfect 2-0 start to the season last week against the Guelph Gryphons and the Waterloo Warriors, the No. 6 men's hockey team is hitting the road up to Montreal to take on the Concordia Stingers in a double header weekend.

On Oct. 4th the men hosted the Guelph Gryphons in their first game of the regular season and earned a 5-1 win over the visitors. Second year forward Kyle Hope was stellar for the Lancers, notching two goals in the win. Ryan Green, Eric Noel and Scott Prier each tallied one goal apiece and first year Lancer Blake Richard made 32 saves in net for Windsor to earn his first OUA regular season victory.

Next up, the Blue & Gold hosted the Waterloo Warriors last Saturday and earned a convincing 8-1 victory over the Black and Gold. Rookie forward Justice Dundas scored four goals and registered his first CIS hat-trick to lead the Lancers attack and earn himself Lancer Athlete of the Week status. Five additional Lancers hit the score sheet with a pair of points in the victory. Lancer goaltender Michael Doan made 30 saves in net to earn the win.

In their last double-header showdown in January, the Lancers swept the Stingers in a pair of games at South Windsor Arena. Both games can be seen live on www.oua.tv starting at 7:30pm.

Women's Hockey
The women's hockey team opened their season with a 7-1 loss against the reigning OUA & CIS champion Western Mustangs on Oct. 10th in London. Dual sport athlete Krystin Lawrence scored the lone goal for the Lancers.

This week they look to bounce back in a pair of road games against the Laurier Golden Hawks and the Waterloo Warriors. Laurier is 1-1 on the season, notching a 2-3 loss against Laurentian, and a 3-0 win against Nipissing, while Waterloo is 1-2 on the season, registering a 5-1 win vs. Nipissing and suffering losses to Western (0-1) and Laurentian (1-2).

The puck drops Friday night against Laurier at 7:30pm and at 2:30pm on Saturday against Waterloo. Both games will be webcasted live on OUA.tv.

Golf
The Windsor Lancer's golf team is heading to the OUA Championships this weekend in Oshawa. The event will be held at UOIT and the Oshawa Golf and Country Club. Coming off a promising weekend at the Guelph Tournament, where the men finished 5th and the women 3rd, both teams are looking for success this weekend in Oshawa. Stay tuned to @WindsorLancers and www.oua.ca for updates throughout the weekend.

Men's Basketball
Looking to build on their perfect 4-0 pre-season record, the men's basketball team is heading out to Saskatchewan for the Graham Construction Shootout from October 15-17. The Lancers will face off against the Concordia Stingers (RSEQ), the University of Regina Cougars (CWUAA), and the host Saskatchewan Huskies (CWUAA). Windsor is returning to Saskatoon for their fourth appearance in the tournament, and their first since 2011. The Lancers are 4-5 all-time at the Graham Shootout.

Women's Basketball
The Women's Basketball team is looking to make a strong start on the 2015-2016 season. They are returning 5 players from last year's championship team, and have added some key components to the lineup. The Lancer's recorded a 75-71 victory against the Queen's Gaels in Kingston on Tuesday, and are poised to continue their winning ways this weekend against the UQAM Citadins and the Concordia Stingers in Montreal, QC.
