The 2016-17 Windsor Lancer men's hockey team is set to make another run for the Queen's Cup title and a third appearance at the CIS University Cup Championship. After claiming their first Queen's Cup Championship in 16 years in 2013-14, the Lancers have continued to make strides towards their first CIS Championship title.

The regular season kicks off on Friday, October 7th when they play host to the Toronto Varsity Blues at 7:30pm at South Windsor Arena. The Lancers will then close out the weekdnd on Saturday with a home contest against the Ryerson Rams, also set for 7:30pm.
 
The outlook for 2016-17 is a positive one for the Lancers, as they are returning a number of key players from last year's squad, including OUA west division rookie of the year Justice Dundas. Last season, Dundas led the Lancers' second best offence in the West Division (3.61 goals per game) in goals (14) and points (29).
 
The Lancers will not be without a couple of significant losses this year, as captain and former CIS all-Canadian Kenny Bradford, along with forwards Ryan Green and Eric Noel graduated following last season. Defenseman Paul Bezzo also completed his education, leaving a hole at the back of the line-up.
 
Kevin Hamlin hopes to begin filling those voids with his 2016-17 recruiting class, a group with a lot of skill that will be able to contribute right away. The group includes goaltender Paolo Battisti, a local product who joins the Lancers from the GOJHL's LaSalle Vipers, and Todd Ratchford from the Caledonia Corvairs of the GOJHL. Another standout addition, Chadd Bauman, is a tremendous defenseman who can play in all situations, and joins the Lancers from the OHL's Guelph Storm.
