Box Score 2 The Lancer men's soccer team earned their first wins of the season with a pair of victories over the Algoma Thunderbirds this weekend at Alumni Field.

The wins put Windsor at 2-3-1 on the year and in sixth place in the OUA west division.

Saturday, September 9th
A 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon gave the men's team their first three points of the season.

The men struggled in the attacking zone of the Thunderbirds as they could not finish many of their passing connections played through the middle of the field.

Jamar Redhead and
Kyle Ruggaber scored back to back goals within one minute of each other in the first half to put the Lancers on top. Algoma scored with six minutes remaining to cut the Lancer lead in half, but the Blue & Gold held on for the win.

Sunday, September 10th
After a lackadaisical performance on Saturday, the men bounced back with a 4-0 victory against Algoma, possessing the entire game while outshooting the Thunderbirds 29-4.

Goal scorers for the Lancers included
Tanner Page (14'),
Bryce Phillips with a pair (38', 70'), and
Celso Carapau. Phillips contributed to the fourth Lancer goal as he maneuvered his way through the Algoma defense drawing a penalty shot and Carapau buried the penalty shot past the diving efforts of the keeper.

The men did not stop their pressure on the Thunderbirds but could not capitalize on many of their chances, while goalkeeper
Kyle Vizirakis recorded his first shutout of the season.
