The No. 5 Windsor Lancer men's volleyball team took to their home court for the first time of the 2018-19 season and were looking to keep their winning ways going against the Brock Badgers.
Â
The Windsor offense had some hiccups early but went to work and looked like the fifth ranked team in the country, dispatching the Badgers in three sets, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.
Â
GAME STATS
Pierce Johnson was solid for the hosts recording 16 kills. The Badgers were led by Logan House who had 16 kills as well.
Â
Nolan Langley put forth a great defensive effort for the Blue and Gold, going down for 16 digs to lead all players. Windsor also had a great day on the nets, recording 10.5 team blocks to the Badgers' two.
Â
GAME FLOW
The Lancers started the first set slowly, struggling to get into any sort of groove. However their defensive effort kept them in the game by limiting Brock's scoring chances. Some fantastic defense midway through the set from
Nolan Langley gave the Lancers the spark they needed as they pulled ahead and maintained the lead, taking the set 25-19.
Â
In the second the Lancers offense came out a little better than their start in the first set, building up a lead midway through the frame. Unfortunately somewhat of a drought set in for the hosts, allowing the Badgers to crawl their way back in. Brock hung tough but some timely offense from Windsor prevailed as they took the set 25-22.
Â
The third set was a tight one as Brock worked hard, limiting the Lancers changes and setting up an early lead. Lancer captain
John Moate tied the game at 15 and from there the Lancers pulled away late to take the set and match 25-22.
