Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball earns second straight win

In their second home game in as many nights, the Lancer women's basketball team defeated the Queen's Gaels 88-79 on Saturday afternoon on Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

GAME STATS
Marianne Alaire had the best night of any scorer, racking up 34 points on 10 for 23 shooting for Queen's. Windsor was led again by Kayah Clarke who chipped in 20 points on 8 for 12 shooting.

Olivia Osamusali had a dominant day on the glass, leading all players with 11 rebounds. The Gael's were led by Myrian Fontain and Marriane Alarie with six each.

Osamusali also scored 12 points for the double-double on the night.

Over the last two quarters the Lancers held the Gales to 29 per cent shooting while shooting 38 per cent themselves.

GAME FLOW
Windsor came out of the gate slow and struggled to run their game plan allowing the Queen's defense the opportunity to up the aggressiveness and run a full court press. Windsor stayed in the game with some timely three-point shots, however, they were unable to contain Alaire who put up 27 of her 34 points in the opening half.

The Lancers again struggled offensively at the start of the third but were able to contain the Gaels three-point shooting to just one make from behind the arc. Queen's shot an impressive 63-percent from behind the three point line in the first half. Windsor finally found its rhythm in the fourth and powered their way to their second straight win.

UP NEXT
The Lancers will be playing host to the Ottawa Gee-Gees next Friday night, November 9th, at 6:00pm here at the St. Denis Centre.
