Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Windsor sweeps Nipissing

The Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team took care of business on Friday night adding another win to the win column on the season. The Lancers took down the visiting Nipissing Lakers in straight sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-21) in front of a raucous local crowd inside the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

The Lancers improved to 3-3 on the season while the Lakers dropped to 4-3 on the year.

GAME STATS
Fourth-year Pierce Johnson led the charge for the blue and gold picking up 11 kills on the night and adding 4 service aces to an impressive home performance. Dami Alalade also had himself a night contributing with 10 kills. Brad Gyemi also pitched in offensively with 10 kills of his own on the night. Nolan Langley racked up 35 assists in the victory. The Lakers were led by Jackson Young who had 10 kills in the match.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers seemed to be in control early on maintaining a firm lead on the Lakers as the set flowed on. A three-point margin appeared to be separating the two squads throughout most of the first set. The Lancers would continue to stay consistent, dominating offensively especially off of Gyemi and Alalade's attacks to take the first set 25-20.

The second set Windsor remained in control keeping a comfortable arms-length lead throughout. Johnson came alive in the second set growing his number of kills from 4 to 10 in the second set. Also, solid play by Langley exercising all his options on the court giving the Lancers a spread offence allowed them to take the second set by a score of 25-18.

In the third set with Nipissing on the brink, the blue and gold did not hold back continuing to defend their home court to a tee with fantastic offence which limited Nipissing's chances of coming back into the game. The Lancers would go onto win 25-21 and took the match 3-0.

With the sweep over the Lakers, the Lancers improve to .500 in the standings towards this season's winning percentage thus far.
